Tube Stores, Fabrication & Welding Facility
European Heathyards, a specialist manufacturer of high integrity fabrication, tube manipulation and weld cladded tube has announced that it will open a new manufacturing facility at its Brownhills site, West Midlands, UK.
The 22,000 sq ft development is expected to be completed by 2021 at a cost of £2.5m. The new unit, formerly used as an outside storage area, is expected to create up to 20 new jobs.
European Heathyards new facility will include 2 x weld cladded tube cells
The workshop will comprise of two 25 tonne overhead cranes, a tube storage unit and the creation of two additional weld cladded tube cells.
According to Operations Director Craig Nash “The new facility is an important step in advancing our manufacturing capabilities. It will allow us to better align our production with customer demand for weld cladded tube.”
“The addition of two new cold metal transfer (CMT) cells for applying 360° spiral weld cladding overlay to tube will strengthen our position in supplying pressure parts to the Power Generation and Waste to Energy sectors.”
“Demand for EN grade boiler tubes continues to grow. To satisfy this demand the introduction of an 8m floor to ceiling tube racking system will allow us to store up to 1500 tonnes of EN grade boiler tubes. There is currently very limited stock within the UK and most, if not all, is supplied from mainland Europe on a 2-week delivery. With the event of Brexit, now seems the right time to fill this void.”
“We will also be offering customers the facility to stock their own tube on a call off basis. The new workshop will house 2 x 25 tonne overhead cranes and will increase our manufacturing capacity by around 30-40 %.”
Several acres of additional land have also been acquired to accommodate existing staff growth and future business expansion. There will be an additional 20 new parking spaces to ease the current congestion and cater for the new positions created.
