Landmark for Pressure Vessel Fabricator
European Heathyards, a specialist UK pressure vessel fabricator, has recently completed a landmark pressure vessel manufacturing process.
A replacement pressure vessel, the single largest built to date by European Heathyards, was manufactured and fully tested at its 110,000 sq ft heavy plant manufacturing facility in the West Midlands.
The giant pressure vessel was completed in 26 weeks from receipt of PO to delivery. This also included certification by Zurich to PD5500 and CE marked.
Built using thick high strength low temperature steel suitable for service with HF (Hydrofluoric) acid, the large scale replacement pressure vessel measured an impressive 15m x 5m x 5m.
The completed pressure vessel required 200,000 litres of water to hydro test and weighs an impressive 60 tonnes empty, rising to 260 tonnes when in service. It required some skilful manoeuvreing by crane and heavy haulage specialists to secure onto a 30m long trailer for forward delivery.
Director of manufacturing Dave Silvester said: “The vessel is the maximum size and height that can go by road and to get under the bridges on the route from Brownhills to a refinery in the North of England.”
The finished pressure vessel was painted and insulated with 4” (100mm) Foam glass then covered with bright Stainless Steel cladding.
Reflecting on a successful on time delivery Operations Director Craig Nash was full of praise for all of European Heatyhards team. The 80 strong workforce collectively accounts for 160,000 capable annual hours.
“By achieving ASME V111, USTAMP, CE PED MODG, NACE MR 0175 AND BS5500 manufacturing codes our commitment to the pressure vessel and steam boiler industry is transparent for all to see.”
“Customers have the confidence from receipt of drawings, through each stage of manufacture, to the final release for dispatch. Our quality control systems and manufacturing processes as a large scale pressure vessel fabricator are industry led.”
“This includes full certification, spectrographic verification, full certification of welds and extensive weld procedure approvals at all times.”
