European Heathyards supports their local community
West Midlands Engineering firm European Heathyards have shown their support for the local community by sponsoring a group of vulnerable students on an outdoor education course to Bryntysilio in Wales.
The Castle Business and Enterprise College, Leamore was looking to raise £4,695 to take 15 of its most deprived students on a trip to ‘Brynty’.
For many the 5 day visit will be their first and only holiday.
‘Brynty’ was previously owned by Walsall Council and the Brynty Trust, however in the wake of austerity measures Walsall Council was forced to sell off Brynty and schools now have to raise the costs of the yearly visits themselves or be forced to cancel the trip.
European Heathyards Technical Director, Arran Nash hands over a cheque for £1,000 to students from The Castle Business and Enterprise College
According to Visit Leader Ruth Bond “Our students all have learning difficulties and this visit means the world to them, some are young carers and this provides their only respite. The growth in our students confidence, self-esteem and teamwork skills is immeasurable and has had a lasting impact upon their performance in school.”
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Technical Director Arran Nash commented.
“Our new workshop is an important step in advancing our capability in the thriving nuclear sector and help to establish us further as pressure vessel manufacturers across a diverse range of business sectors. European Heathyards have been pre-qualified by Achilles UVDB (EDF Nuclear) and we are also currently engaged on the fit for nuclear programme”
The Castle Business and Enterprise College, Leamore is a Moderate Learning Difficulties Special School close to the Walsall based manufacturing facility.
When the call for sponsorship came European Heathyards Technical Director Arran Nash was more than happy to help. “It is a privilege to be able to give something back and provide new memories for the next generation of CBEC students. The Castle Business and Enterprise College, Leamore are looking to raise funds as soon as possible. With the help of the local business community they are hoping to achieve their target of £4,695.”
